Do You Scan Your Feet Before or After You Order?
You choose a design and pay first. The scan that makes your pair happens after checkout, on the same email as the order.
Some insole sites ask you to scan before you pay. CustomSole does it the other way around. You choose a design, pay $69.99, and then complete the scan that we use to print your pair. This page is only the order of those steps.
What the product page does
Step 2 on a product page asks for an email. That field does not open the camera. It stores the address we will use after checkout. You can still read how it works or how to scan your feet with your phone before you buy. Those pages describe the photos. They do not start the scan we manufacture from.
There is also a page that explains the free scan for people who want the sequence before they spend anything. It does not photograph your feet.
Why the scan waits
The scan that shapes your pair is included in the $69.99. We open it after checkout so we scan feet we are about to print. Volumental, the company that runs the scanner, emails a report to the address you type on the scanner. If you have scanned with Volumental somewhere else, use that same email and you will have both reports in one inbox. We do not promise the two reports will be identical.
You pick a US shoe size on the product page. The scan does not recommend one. That size is the outline. The arch is printed from the scan of that foot. Full Length is available now. 3/4 Length is coming soon. Both lengths cost $69.99.
What you do after you pay
- Use the email that is already on the order.
- Open the scan link from that inbox, or go to complete your scan and enter that email.
- On the scanner, type the same email again. That is where Volumental sends its report.
- Photograph both feet next to one flat sheet of A4 or US Letter paper. Roll your pant legs up. Use a hard floor. It usually takes about two minutes.
On a computer, the page shows a QR code so the photos happen on your phone. Leave the computer window open until both feet are finished.

We match the scan to the order with that email. If the scanner is not on the page when you open it, email support@customsole.shop with your order number and we will send the link. An unpaid cart does not have a production scan yet.
What we print
Each arch is printed from that foot’s own scan. The left and the right are made separately, because the two feet are often not the same shape. Full Length runs from heel to toe and replaces the insole that came with the shoe. It suits sneakers, walking shoes, and work boots whose original insole comes out. 3/4 Length stops just behind the ball of the foot and sits on the original insole. It suits dress shoes, flats, and narrower shoes. The price does not change with the length.
Every pair is made after the scan arrives. For US orders, plan on delivery within 14 days. Making the pair starts when we can match a finished scan to the order, so complete the photos when the email shows up. Shipping details are on shipping and returns.
The 16 designs are the colors and patterns. Nebula, Glacier, Carbon Cell, and the rest share the same printed arch. Picking a design does not pick a shoe size, and it does not replace the scan.
If you already paid and have not scanned
The order stays open. We do not cancel it automatically because the scan is missing. Finish the scan with the checkout email, or write to support@customsole.shop with the order number if the link will not open. Changing or canceling is possible within 24 hours of checkout. After that, a custom pair is final sale. A pair that arrives damaged or made wrong is replaced. The details are on the shipping page.
What the scan is for
The photos give length, width, and foot height so the arch can follow that foot. They are not a medical exam, and they do not tell you whether you should see a clinician. If a foot hurts, talk to a podiatrist. This insole is a comfort product at one price.
When you are ready, choose a design, pay, and scan with the same email. If you only want the camera steps first, stay on the how-to article until you order.
A computer and a phone
The photos have to be taken with a phone camera. A laptop can start the page and show the QR code, but it cannot stand in for the phone. If you only have a phone, the scanner opens in the browser on that phone. There is no app to install. The paper still has to be a full A4 or US Letter sheet, flat on the floor, with both feet in the frame the guide asks for.
Use the same email in three places: the product page, the checkout, and the scanner. A different inbox on the scanner means the report goes somewhere we cannot match to the order. Nicknames and work addresses are fine only if that exact address is the one that paid.
The report from Volumental is theirs. It shows the measurements they calculated. We use the scan to print the arch. You do not forward the report to us. Matching is by the email on the order, which is also stored on the order as the scan email.
Have the paper ready before you open the link: one unused sheet, no folds, on a floor you can stand on for a minute. Thick socks and long pant legs are the usual reason a photo has to be retaken. Thin socks or bare feet, ankles visible, weight on both feet. Then you are done. The rest is printing and the US delivery window of 14 days. That is the whole path from payment to a printed arch.
Frequently asked questions
Can I scan before I pay?
You can read the steps before you pay. The production scan, the one we print from, opens after checkout.
Which email do I use?
The email on the order. Type that same address on the Volumental scanner so the report and the order match.
Do I choose a shoe size?
Yes. Choose the US size you wear. The scan does not recommend one. Full Length is available now. 3/4 Length is coming soon. Both lengths are $69.99.
How long until it ships?
US orders are delivered within 14 days. The pair is made after the scan is in, not before.
What if I never finish the scan?
We do not cancel the order by ourselves. Email support@customsole.shop with the order number and we will help you open the scanner.
